Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014)

October 12, 2015  /  Ken Rupracht

'Mad Max Meets Dawn of the Dead'

  • That Ausie accent.
  • Their tagline really is pretty accurate.
  • Fun (unique) take on zombies.
  • Pretty decent acting.
  • Pretty hammy.

  • Some people won't like the hammy bits.
  • Story-telling at the beginning does unnecessary jump backwards, could confuse some.
  • Don't expect too much explanation.
Opinion

I don't know how long I actually put off watching this because I figured it was just another zombie flick - and now I feel a little stupid for not watching it earlier. Although it is a zombie flick, there's a pretty unique spin on the zombies and how they function. On the other hand, the "weird" group of anti-heroes aren't really elaborated on that well, so don't expect a lot of explanations on that end. Enjoyable flick, by the end really lived up to that ozploitation Mad Max/zombie tagline.
