Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (2012)

April 28, 2014  /  Ken Rupracht

The legendary beast is on the hunt

  • Costume design is pretty fun on some characters
  • Well done plot twists and misdirection methods keep a person guessing
  • Decent use of jump scares
  • Violence-side looks believable, while not sinking quite as far as zombie-movie gore levels
  • Feels like it would be at home with the old wolf-man movies, straight to the use of gypsies
  • Hunter characters are an interesting bunch

  • Not the best use of CG
  • Some rather foreseeable plot twists
  • Although costume designs for some characters are cool, it's very much fantasy-historical (think Van Helsing)
  • A few instances of rather poor acting, and main Hunter sounds out of place
Opinion

For fans of the genre/creature, probably worth a watch. To put it into perspective, its no Dog Soldiers, but it's a lot more interesting than some of the other werewolf-flavored slop out there.
